Back Pain Doesn't Look the Same for Everyone
Whatever brought you here, the right starting point is understanding what's actually causing it.
Acute Back Pain
It Came On Suddenly
You lifted something wrong, twisted the wrong way, or woke up and couldn't stand up straight. Sudden back pain often responds well to care, and treating it early keeps your body from building compensation patterns that turn a bad week into a long-term problem.
Chronic Back Pain
It's Been Going On for Months or Years
You've tried rest, stretching, massage, maybe medication or injections, and it keeps coming back. Pain that lingers usually has an underlying cause that nobody's addressed. That's the part we go after.

Neurologically-Based Chiropractic
We Treat the Cause of Your Back Pain, Not Just the Symptom
Most back pain isn't random. It's a signal that something in your spine and nervous system isn't working the way it should: joints that have shifted out of position, nerves under pressure, muscles compensating in patterns they were never meant to hold. Pain medication can quiet that signal, but it doesn't change what's causing it.
So we look before we treat. A hands-on neurological and spinal exam, plus digital X-rays taken right here in the office when you need them, show us where the problem actually is. Then we correct it with the Torque Release Technique, a gentle, instrument-assisted adjustment that's precise and low-force, with no twisting and no cracking.
About our adjustmentsWhen Adjustments Aren't the Whole Answer
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression for Disc and Nerve Pain
Some back pain comes from a disc that's bulging or herniated, or a nerve that's being squeezed. When your exam and X-rays point there, we add spinal decompression to your plan. Our Back On Trac system is a seated decompression system, with no straps and no lying face-down, that gently takes pressure off the disc and the nerve it's been irritating.
Decompression is often a fit for back pain from:
- Herniated or bulging discs
- Sciatica and pain that radiates down the leg
- Degenerative disc disease
- Spinal stenosis
- Chronic low back pain that hasn't responded to other care
Many of our patients came in after being told surgery was the next step.

Fayetteville Patients Who Came In With Back Pain

"I was told by two Fayetteville neurosurgeons that I needed a scoliosis specialist surgeon to operate on my back. I decided to give chiropractic a try. My pain was a solid 10. I'm now walking around pain free and have only a little back pain in the morning. Yesterday was the last day of taking pain medication. I'm very pleased with the treatment from Dr. Parker."

"Probably the most efficient office workflow I've ever seen. I came in with constant lower back pain and was unable to walk more than 5 minutes at a time without pain. I'm about 2/3rds through my treatment plan and now can walk about 30 minutes before the first twinge of pain hits. Also, my neck has never felt better and my regular headaches are gone. I'm extremely pleased with the results so far."

"Excellent, personable treatment with progress that gives me so much confidence of improvement! Some chronic neurological issues have nearly diminished, and my lower back pain is no longer keeping me awake at night. I'm so very thankful that a friend recommended Dr. Parker at Abide!"

What Happens When You Come In for Back Pain
The order never changes. How the steps fall across your appointments depends on your situation.
Consultation
We start sitting down, not on a table. Tell us when your back pain started, what makes it better or worse, what you've already tried, and what you want to get back to doing.
Exam & X-Rays
Neurological testing, orthopedic assessment, and spinal analysis, plus digital X-rays right here in the office when we need to see the structure of your spine.
Report of Findings
We walk you through what we found in plain language: what's going on, what's causing your pain, and what we think it'll take to correct it.
Your Care Plan
A plan built around your findings and your goals, including adjustments and spinal decompression if you need it. Your first adjustment always comes after your report of findings, never before.
Back Pain Questions, Answered
Can a chiropractor help with back pain?
For many people, yes. Back pain is one of the most common reasons patients come to Abide. We focus on finding and correcting what's driving your pain rather than just quieting the symptom. After your exam, we'll be straight with you about whether we can help and what that would look like, and if your pain needs care outside what chiropractic can offer, we'll tell you and point you in the right direction.
How soon will my back feel better?
It depends on what's causing your pain, how long it's been there, and how your body responds. Some people notice a difference early, and pain that's built up over years usually takes longer to turn around. Instead of promising a timeline up front, we'll give you a realistic one in your report of findings, based on what we actually find.
Does the adjustment hurt?
No. We use the Torque Release Technique, a gentle, low-force adjustment delivered with a handheld instrument. There's no twisting and no cracking, which matters when your back is already sore.
What if my back pain is from a herniated disc or sciatica?
That's exactly why we start with an exam and X-rays, so we know what we're dealing with before we recommend anything. When a disc or a compressed nerve is part of the picture, we can add non-surgical spinal decompression to your care.
Do you treat back pain during pregnancy?
Yes. All of our chiropractors are Webster Technique certified, and back pain is one of the most common reasons expecting moms come to see us. Our pregnancy care page has the full details.
Do you treat back pain after a car accident?
Yes. Back pain after an accident is worth getting checked early, even when it seems minor at first, before your body starts compensating around it. Give the office a call at (479) 435-6888 and we'll get you in.
Do I need a referral, and do you take insurance?
No referral needed. You can book directly with us. We accept most major insurance plans, and coverage varies enough from plan to plan that the best way to know is to call us at (479) 435-6888. We'll verify your benefits before your appointment.
