Why Athletes Choose Abide

Getting out of pain is the easy part — staying in your season is the point

We treat the cause, not the sore spot. Shin splints and runner's knee are usually symptoms of how you load the leg. Treat only where it hurts and it comes back the week you return to training.

Return-to-play is a plan, not a guess. You get milestones you can measure, so the decision to go back is based on what your body is doing rather than how many weeks have passed.

Drug-free and non-surgical first. Plenty of athletic injuries respond to conservative care, and starting there costs you nothing if you later need a referral. We will tell you when you need one.

Injuries We Treat

The complaints that bring athletes through our door most often

Low Back & Neck Pain

The core of what we do, and the most common thing athletes actually walk in with. Lifting and rotational load, contact, and the stiffness that builds when training sits on top of a desk job.

Shoulder & Rotator Cuff

Impingement, rotator cuff irritation and the overhead athlete's shoulder — worked at the scapula and thoracic spine as well as the joint itself. Full tears, labral injuries and dislocations get referred rather than managed here.

Runner's & Jumper's Knee

Patellar and IT band pain that flares with mileage or jump volume. Usually a hip and loading problem showing up at the knee.

Hamstring & Groin Strains

The injuries most likely to recur. Rehab is aimed at the pelvis and lumbar mechanics that let it happen in the first place.

Tennis & Golfer's Elbow

Elbow tendon pain from repeated gripping and swinging, treated at the forearm, shoulder and neck rather than only where it hurts.

Shin Splints

Medial shin pain that returns every time training ramps back up. We look at gait, foot mechanics and load progression together.

"I was told by two Fayetteville neurosurgeons that I needed a scoliosis specialist surgeon to operate on my back. I decided to give chiropractic a try. My pain was a solid 10. I'm now walking around pain free and have only a little back pain in the morning. Yesterday was the last day of taking pain medication. I'm very pleased with the treatment from Dr. Parker."

"Probably the most efficient office workflow I've ever seen. I came in with constant lower back pain and was unable to walk more than 5 minutes at a time without pain. I'm about 2/3rds through my treatment plan and now can walk about 30 minutes before the first twinge of pain hits. Also, my neck has never felt better and my regular headaches are gone. I'm extremely pleased with the results so far."

"I went to Abide 9 months ago in agonizing pain and in search of answers. They helped me figure out the problem and formulated a care plan that has delivered amazing results. As long as you're willing to work as hard for yourself as they are for you, then you are in the best hands possible. I highly recommend Abide to anyone looking for compassionate and respectful care."

How We Treat

Adjustments You Can Take Straight Back to Training

We use the Torque Release Technique — an instrument-assisted adjustment that is specific and low-force, with no twisting and no wrenching. For an athlete mid-season that matters: you are not walking out of here needing a day to recover from the treatment itself.

We also image before we treat. On-site digital X-rays mean we are working from what your spine actually looks like, not from a guess.

What Your First Visit Looks Like

You will leave the first appointment knowing what is wrong and what the plan is

1

Consultation

What happened, what sport, what you have already tried, and what you are actually trying to get back to.

2

Exam & Imaging

A hands-on assessment plus on-site digital X-rays where they are warranted, so the plan is based on what is really there.

3

The Findings

We show you what we found and say plainly whether this is something we treat or something that needs a referral.

4

A Return-to-Play Plan

Treatment plus the milestones that tell us you are ready — not a fixed number of weeks decided in advance.

Built for Northwest Arkansas Athletics

Northwest Arkansas is a genuinely athletic place, and the injuries we see reflect that. Trail and road runners logging miles on the Razorback Greenway. High school programs across Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville running three seasons deep. Recreational leagues, CrossFit gyms, cyclists in the Ozarks, and University of Arkansas students training at a level most people never touch.

That range is the reason we do not run one protocol. A cross-country runner in October and a lineman in August are asking completely different things of their bodies, and the plan should say so.

Sports Chiropractic Questions, Answered

What athletes and parents ask us before booking

What types of sports injuries do you treat?

Low back and neck pain first — that is the core of chiropractic care and it is what most athletes come in with. Beyond that: sprains and strains, tendonitis, runner's and jumper's knee, shin splints, tennis and golfer's elbow, hamstring and groin strains, rotator cuff irritation, ankle sprains, and the neck pain and headaches that often linger after a head impact. If what you have needs an orthopedist or imaging beyond what we do here, we will tell you that rather than treat around it.

How quickly can I get back to my sport?

It depends entirely on the injury, and anyone who gives you a number before examining you is guessing. What we will do on the first visit is tell you what we are looking at and set specific milestones — range of motion, load tolerance, pain response — so the return decision is based on measurable progress rather than the calendar.

Do you work with high school and college athletes?

Yes, and they make up a good share of the athletes we see. We treat players from local high school programs across Northwest Arkansas as well as University of Arkansas students. For athletes under 18 we keep parents in the loop on the plan and on anything we think needs another opinion.

Can chiropractic actually improve performance, or just treat injury?

Honestly, the strongest and best-supported case is for treating injury, restoring range of motion, and keeping you training consistently — and consistent training is what actually drives performance. We are not going to tell you an adjustment adds to your vertical. We will tell you that an athlete who is not missing weeks to a recurring injury gets better results than one who is.

Is sports injury care covered by insurance?

Most major plans cover chiropractic care, and we will verify your specific benefits before the first visit so you know the cost up front. Call us at (479) 435-6888 and we will check it for you.
